New Diskeeper 2008 Build (781)
We have a new update of Diskeeper available on our website. You can use the Check for Updates feature in the software or simply pull down the new Diskeeper 2008 trialware and install it over the top of your existing full version of Diskeeper 2008.
If you need to install the update to multiple computers, you can download the software from here.
Here is a list of main changes in build 12.0.781:
1. Fixed a flaw that caused a minor error message when the Diskeeper Service was shutdown (e.g. when shutting down the system). This error did not stop Diskeeper from functioning. (introduced in build 770)
2. Improvement to I-FAAST to better process files in the same folder, that are frequently deleted and recreated under the same file name.
3. Included support for correctly processing wildcards in the Diskeeper file exclusion list. Also fixed a couple of minor bugs related to file exclusion list.
4. Made enhancements to the News and Information feature to send info more appropriate to the user's location and the product edition used.
5. Removed displaying an error message when News and Information feature is unable to connect to a Diskeeper News Server. A message is now logged in the Event Log when this occurs. (introduced in build 770). This error did not stop Diskeeper from functioning.
6. Boot-time defragmentation is disabled in Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 2008, due to a feature incompatibility on those operating systems / service packs. A correction in a future update will re-enable the feature.

What about the Undelete build update or version upgrade? We still can't use Undelete 5 Server with Windows 2008 Server 32bit/64bit. Any news on that issue?

Hi Igor,
This is coming very soon.

"A correction in a future update (coming soon) will re-enable the feature" - I have been waiting since 7th April for the boot-time defrag. option to be re-introduced for Vista - that was 1.5 months ago - so what does "coming soon" mean?

Hi Derek,
Our engineers have decided that a quick solution is not the best option for customers (I'll remove the 'coming soon' comment). That said, the re-introduction of bootime for Vista SP1 users is still a ways out, but the feature will come back in an update and include more functionality than before.
Bootime defrag is rarely needed. If you find otherwise on your computer(s), please contact our technical support department for assistance.

Diskeeper 2008 Pro Prem. Hangs on Windows Vista Ult SP1 on shutdown. build 781. Also, Diskeeper gui opens and can be used once, on close it will not open again. Previous version 9 home worked fine.

Hi Michael.
I have a dual boot system with XP and Vista. XP is on C: (boot drive) while Vista on F:. Do I need to install Diskeeper Prem. Pro. on both the Os' or will only installing in one suffice? (I have it installed on XP currently. I work on XP most of the time.)
Thanks.

You only need the one install (on XP), as it will defrag the F: volume. The reason you may want to install on Vista is if you use the Windows Vista boot quite a bit.
